Woolworths awarded dairy product of the year for fifth year running
With one of the biggest and most diverse ranges of exceptional dairy products in South Africa, Woolworths has once again come out on top at prestigious SA Dairy Championships, the biggest and longest-running dairy competition in Africa.
As a leading retailer, committed to providing quality products, the Woolworths team is thrilled to have been once again named the crème de la crème of the 2025 championships, held on 8 April 2025 in Durbanville.
The awards, spanning various dairy categories, involved the evaluation of 1110 dairy products by 103 expert judges who meticulously assessed appearance, texture and flavour across 10 categories.
One of the noteworthy achievements of Agri-Expo is the creation of the Qualité emblem in 2001, which has become South Africa’s only mark of excellence in the dairy industry – awarded to only a select few of the country’s most outstanding dairy products.
Woolworths bagged a total of 85 awards, including 31 first, 21 second and 21 third prizes, with 11 products receiving the coveted Qualité Award. Attaining the highest score and scooping up the prestigious SA Dairy Product of the Year award was Woolworths Mascarpone with Fig & Pecan Nuts, produced exclusively for the retailer by RFG Foods.
“This marks the fifth consecutive year that Woolworths has been awarded the coveted SA Dairy Product of the Year,” comments David Cuff, Category Manager for Dairy at Woolworths. “Woolworths is committed to working with the very best dairy producers to ensure continuous innovation that guarantees the award-winning dairy products on our shelves continue to surprise and delight our customers. We are immensely proud of our dairy team and our suppliers who have made this impressive awards scoop possible”.
