A new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS^TM title for the largest donation of pet food in 24 hours period was set at the Bloem Show by Petshop Science and Montego Pet Nutrition. 

Driven by strong public support at the popular agricultural and entertainment event in Bloemfontein, Petshop Science and Montego Pet Nutrition collected 67,200kg of pet food - surpassing the previous record of 36,750kg set in the United States in 2023. 

The record attempt ran from Friday, 1 May at 17:00 to Saturday, 2 May at 17:00, with GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS^TM officials verifying each donation, and independently witnessing the process before confirming the final total. 

All donations collected will be distributed to eight registered animal welfare organisations in the Free State, with additional allocations to shelters in other provinces.

The record is in addition to R3.3 million worth of pet food and accessories Petshop Science donated to 35 animal welfare organisations across South Africa in the past financial year 

Since launching in 2021, Petshop Science has expanded to 174 stores nationwide and continues to grow its footprint across all nine provinces including through its partnership with Sixty60.
