Boxer supports small business growth through Makhado SMME capacitation event

| Marketing and Promotions

Makhado, Limpopo - Boxer Superstores has reaffirmed its commitment to small business development and community upliftment through its participation in the recently held Makhado SMME Capacitation Event, an initiative designed to support and grow small businesses within the Makhado Municipality.

The event was hosted in partnership with SEFDA, GNet Servest, and other key stakeholders, with the objective of equipping local entrepreneurs with practical business and farming skills that can be applied directly within their operations. The programme brought together small businesses operating across agriculture, broiler production, bakeries, and confectioneries.

Boxer engaged directly with participating entrepreneurs through structured coaching and mentorship sessions. These engagements created a platform for business owners to share their experiences, unpack real operational challenges, and receive practical guidance aimed at improving sustainability and growth.

“Makhado stood out because of its strong community of self-formed cooperatives that are committed to improving livelihoods and growing the local economy. By creating a space for shared learning, collaboration, and peer support, this initiative also helped participants better understand Boxer’s supplier requirements. Programmes like this reflect Boxer Superstores’ commitment to working alongside communities to build sustainable local businesses and drive inclusive economic growth,” said Ntombi Dludla, Boxer’s Group Executive: Stakeholder Engagement and Sustainability.

Participants received support and information on accessing funding through SEFDA, meeting SARS compliance requirements, registering cooperatives with CIPC, and completing annual business returns. In addition, Boxer provided mentorship on hygiene standards, market access, and funding readiness, helping businesses better position themselves to meet market expectations and improve operational efficiency.
