Makro launches Famous Four this winter to deliver affordable meat prices for households looking to stretch food budgets
With food costs remaining a key pressure point for many South African households, retailers are increasingly focusing on value-led promotions that help consumers manage their grocery spend without sacrificing everyday essentials.
In response to this demand, Makro has launched its new 'Famous Four' meat promotion, locking in the price of popular meat products at R99 per kilogram until 31 July 2026.
The promotion forms part of Makro's broader initiative to provide customers with greater certainty on products that feature prominently in winter meal planning.
The 'Famous Four' promotion includes:
- Bulk Stewing Beef – R99/kg (saving R30/kg)
- Bulk Jacques Kallis Boerewors – R99/kg (saving R30/kg)
- Bulk Lean Beef Mince – R99/kg (saving R30/kg)
- Bulk Pork Braai Chops – R59/kg
As temperatures drop and demand rises for hearty home-cooked meals, products such as mince, stewing beef and boerewors cuts remain staples in many South African households. By locking in prices for a longer period, Makro aims to help customers plan meals and manage budgets with greater confidence.
"Value remains one of the most important considerations for our customers when shopping for groceries," says Langa Khanyile Massmart Retail Marketing Executive. "The 'Famous Four' promotion focuses on products that South Africans buy regularly and provides consistent pricing throughout the winter season, helping households make their budgets go further."
The promotion reflects Makro's continued focus on delivering meaningful savings on everyday essentials while offering customers quality products at competitive prices. The 'Famous Four' promotion is available at participating Makro stores nationwide while stocks last.
