Roots Butchery elevates retail operations with Glory cash automation in South Africa

Roots Butchery has taken a major step forward in modernising its retail operations through the adoption of Glory’s advanced, end‑to‑end cash automation technology. Designed to eliminate manual cash‑handling challenges, the new system has streamlined cash processes from checkout to bank deposit, boosting security, efficiency and accuracy across the Kwa‑Guqa store.

Store owner Vince Ferreira turned to Glory after recognising the limitations and risks of traditional cash drawers and manual reconciliation. With Glory devices now installed at each till point, cashiers no longer handle floats or count cash during shift changes. Every transaction is recorded automatically, counterfeit notes are detected instantly and operational errors have been virtually eliminated.

“Since Glory we’ve had no counterfeits, no theft, and our cashiers don’t make mistakes,” says Store Manager Jose Da Conceicao.

The store has also modernised its back‑office procedures, replacing legacy equipment with Glory’s secure cash recycling solution. Banknotes travel directly from tills to the back office in sealed cassettes, untouched by staff. Deposits are automatically processed and credited through the store’s banking partner, completing a fully closed cash‑handling journey.

Regional Manager Rowley Smith praised the transformation:
“Roots is committed to operational excellence, and this move to full cash automation shows real leadership in the sector. Glory’s technology gives the store team more time, more accuracy and more confidence—and that ultimately strengthens the customer experience too.”

Financial and operational benefits now being realised include reduced theft risk, lower insurance exposure, faster transaction times and improved cash visibility across the store.Glory_2.jpg

Supported by Glory’s authorised partner, Clyronex, Roots Butchery continues to lead the way in South Africa’s evolving retail landscape. By embracing advanced automation, the business has created a more secure, efficient and customer‑focused environment—setting a new benchmark for retail innovation.
