Takealot rolls out instant delivery option in parts of Durban

| On the move

Takealot has extended its rapid delivery offering, TakealotNOW, to selected neighbourhoods in Durban, including Morningside, Berea, Westville and sections of Durban North.

Customers in these areas can now order a wide range of items — from electronics and books to beauty products, DIY supplies and everyday household essentials — with delivery promised within minutes.

According to Takealot chief marketing officer Karla Levick, the expansion reflects the company’s focus on convenience for time-pressed consumers. She said the service is designed to make shopping faster and more seamless for people with busy schedules.

Products eligible for instant delivery are marked with a “Get it Now” label in the Takealot app and are delivered through Mr D. Shoppers can also access the dedicated TakealotNOW store directly in the Mr D app under the “Shops” section.

TakealotNOW head Marnus Engelbrecht said the service was launched as a pilot in 2023 and has since expanded quickly. It is already available in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria, with Durban now added to the rollout.

Subscribers to TakealotMORE, the retailer’s R99 monthly membership, qualify for unlimited free TakealotNOW deliveries, along with additional perks such as exclusive discounts. Takealot said the offering allows members to save on delivery costs while receiving items almost immediately when needed.
