Engen Partners with Gift of the Givers to Aid Cape Storm Victims

| Social Responsibility

Engen has stepped forward to support people affected by the gale-force winds and flooding that has wreaked havoc in the Western Cape this week, after multiple cold fronts hit the area.

The efforts by Engen, partnered by Gift of the Givers, saw much-needed aid delivered to communities most severely impacted.

Councillor Xolani Diniso and the Engen CSI team visited Lwandle township in the Strand area to hand out essential supplies, including food hampers and hygiene packs which will also be distributed to several other areas in the Western Cape providing immediate comfort and assistance to displaced residents.

Engen CSI Manager, Olwethu Mdabula, expressed deep sympathy on behalf of the company to those affected.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people impacted by the severe conditions. Engen values communities and provide a social compact which enjoins on us to act when communities are in distress."

Engen's longstanding partnership with Gift of the Givers has been pivotal in ensuring aid reaches those who need it most.

"We hope our contribution brings some relief to vulnerable households," added Mdabula. "Many people are facing the daunting task of rebuilding, and it is our collective responsibility to support them during this difficult time."

Engen has partnered with Gift of the Givers since 2019, providing fuel support that enables swift and efficient disaster response operations.
