Engen and Gift of the Givers provide vital aid to KZN flood victims

| Social Responsibility

Engen, in collaboration with Gift of the Givers (GoG), has stepped forward to support families affected by the severe floods in KwaZulu-Natal. With hundreds of people displaced, Engen and GoG are responding to the crisis by providing urgent relief to those in need.

Severe flooding across KwaZulu-Natal’s South Coast has claimed several lives and left hundreds homeless. Disaster management teams continue to work tirelessly, with authorities warning of further adverse weather conditions.

In response, Engen and GoG visited Bayview Community Hall and distributed food hampers, blankets, sleeping mats and full hygiene packs to 100 displaced individuals affected by the Lamontville floods.

Engen CSI Manager, Olwethu Mdabula, expressed the company’s solidarity with affected families, stating: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by these tragic events. Engen is deeply saddened by the loss of life and devastation caused by the recent floods. We hope our contribution provides some comfort to the affected families as they navigate this challenging time.”

Engen’s longstanding partnership with Gift of the Givers has been instrumental in ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most. Since 2019, Engen has supported GoG’s humanitarian efforts by providing fuel to enable swift and efficient disaster response operations.

“We remain committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, particularly during times of crisis,” added Mdabula. “It is our collective responsibility to help rebuild lives and offer relief to the most vulnerable.”
