Boxer empowers local farmers at Ndwedwe Farmers Day

| Social Responsibility

Boxer Superstores recently hosted a highly successful Farmers Day in Ndwedwe, bringing together nearly 300 local farmers from the surrounding area for a day of learning, mentorship, and empowerment.

The Boxer Farmers Day is the second iteration of its type, following on from the 2023 edition held in Estcourt. The day, hosted at the Ndewdwe Community Hall, was designed to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to perfect their farming efforts, scale up their operations, and ultimately supply to retail stores. The event featured suppliers, agricultural experts, and stakeholders from different industries who shared practical lessons on how to produce farm goods that meet supermarket standards.

Farmers also had the opportunity to benefit from mentorship and coaching sessions, which focused on strengthening their trade and building sustainable businesses. To further support their efforts, attendees received gifts from Boxer and Boxer Build and stood the chance to win valuable prizes through lucky draws, including eco tanks, generators, chainsaws, seeds, and other essential farming materials.

Ntombi Dludla, Boxer Group Executive: Sustainability and Stakeholder Engagement, highlighted the importance of this initiative, saying, “Our goal is to capacitate the farmers and give them the knowledge they need to be able to continue with their work, and scale up and ultimately become suppliers to retail, efficiently and effectively.” The Deputy Mayor of Ndwedwe Local Municipality expressed appreciation for the initiative, “We invited local farmers to help them, assist them and grow their trade, so that they can further themselves and their economy.”

The event showcased Boxer’s commitment to uplifting communities, strengthening local economies, and building a sustainable agricultural supply chain.
