Pick n Pay opens Western Cape stores as drop-off points to temporarily displaced families. Following the severe storms and flooding that swept across the Western Cape this week, displacing thousands of residents and damaging homes across several communities, Pick n Pay has mobilised relief support and opened all Pick n Pay stores in the province as donation drop-off points.

Customers can donate non-perishable food items, blankets, warm clothing, baby essentials and toiletries at any Pick n Pay store across the Western Cape to support families affected by the floods and ongoing adverse weather conditions.

Over the past few days, Pick n Pay teams have partnered with relief organisations on the ground to support impacted communities with emergency food relief.

This has included supporting communities in the Overberg region with hot meals for displaced residents sheltering in community halls across Zwelihle in Hermanus, Masakhane in Gansbaai and Kleinmond, as well as providing food support in Khayelitsha and Strandfontein following widespread flooding.

“We will always look after the communities we serve, and step in to support where we can during difficult times. Our store teams are part of these communities too – they know the people, the families and the challenges many are facing after the storm. Across the Western Cape, it’s been incredibly moving to see our staff, customers and partners come together so quickly to provide food, grocery essentials, warmth and support to families affected by the floods,” says Anwar Mooideen, CSI Manager: Pick n Pay.

Members of the public can make donations at any Pick n Pay store in the Western Cape. Donations to the Feed the Nation Foundation can also be made at till points nationwide to support relief efforts.
