Shoprite Group brings next level convenience to Durbanville, with five new stores

The Shoprite Group is bringing next level convenience to the people of Durbanville and surrounds, with the opening of a Checkers supermarket as well as four standalone stores - Checkers Little MeCheckers OutdoorPetshop Science and the Northern Suburbs’ first UNIQ clothing by Checkers store - at new shopping destination, Groot Phesantekraal View.  

All five stores opened on Thursday 24 July, creating 146 new job opportunities for the local community.

Checkers Groot Phesantekraal offers top quality food, exclusive brands and specialist in-store services including:

  • Exclusive private label brands such as Forage and Feastand Simple Truth;
  • A Meat Market with free range chicken and restaurant-quality steak;
  • A wine section;
  • A coffee counter;
  • A flower fridge;
  • A sushi bar;
  • A bakery with artisan breads;
  • A Money Market counter;
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables

Checkers Outdoor is the go-to destination for adventurers looking for quality camping, braai and outdoor essentials at excellent value, while Checkers Little Me offers parents an extensive range of baby and toddler products all under one roof.

Checkers clothing by UNIQ by Checkers provides discerning customers with premium quality wardrobe basics.

Petshop Science features everything pet owners could want or need, including food, treats and toys from premium brands like Montego, Royal Canine, Ultra Dog, and Rogz.

Checkers Groot Phesantekraal operates from 08:00 – 20:00, Monday to Sunday, and will be managed by Lemanthea Viret who has been working in the retail industry for 19 years.
