The countdown to the opening of our first Walmart branded store in South Africa has started. So, we thought we would tell you a little more about Walmart's Every Day Low Price (EDLP) philosophy.

At Walmart, our Every Day Low Prices (EDLP) mean you can count on low prices today, tomorrow, next week, and the week after that. And the week after that, too!

For decades, Walmart has been bringing our Every Day Low Prices to people around the globe. Today, they can find low prices no matter how they choose to shop with us – in store, online or both.

As we open stores later this year in South Africa, we’ll bring that same price discipline to the market, offering a wide range of quality merchandise, including fresh groceries, household essentials, apparel and technology.

Every rand matters when it comes to price. It is this balance and mindset on quality and Every Day Low Prices that enables us to deliver and build customer trust. With Every Day Low Prices, you can shop on your own schedule and trust that you’ll always get a low price at Walmart – without waiting for a short-term promotion or worrying about constantly fluctuating prices. In a country where food security is a challenge for so many, we give customers an opportunity to take charge of their food choices.

Ready to learn more about EDLP? Here are some things to know:
What are Every Day Low Prices?

Walmart associates continually look for opportunities to find cost savings (Every Day Low Cost) and pass those along to its customers through Every Day Low Prices. EDLP is part of our mission to help people save money and live better. Plus, throughout the year we have Rollback offers that bring our Every Day Low Prices even lower!
So Every Day low prices aren’t a sale?

No. Every Day Low Prices are what you can expect when you shop at Walmart – without having to wait for a promotion or a sale. EDLP means customers can consistently and dependably find low prices at Walmart in stores and online, on the products they’re looking for at the quality they’d expect.

And when customers shop with us, we’re working hard to have consistent stock of these items to save them time – so they can complete their shop without having to go elsewhere. Through it all, Walmart is working to keep prices low so that when customers do their weekly shop with us, they save money. It’s about trust, transparency and consistency.

We take our responsibility to bring value to customers and consumers around the globe seriously.
