Retail Readiness Programme expands to Transpharm for the first time

| Supplier news

Transpharm recently concluded its first intake of unemployed youth into the Shoprite Group’s Retail Readiness Programme (RRP), which kicked off in March. As the Group’s pharmaceutical wholesale and distribution business, Transpharm supplies medicines and healthcare products to pharmacies and medical providers across South Africa.

This cohort began the seven-week skills development programme at the Transpharm distribution centre in Cape Town, setting the tone for the broader retail training journey.

Aimed at South Africans aged 18 to 34, RRP equips participants with essential retail skills and hands-on workplace experience, creating pathways to meaningful employment and long-term careers while contributing to efforts to address the country’s high unemployment rate.

The programme combines one and a half weeks of theoretical training with five and a half weeks of practical, on-the-job experience. Successful participants receive an NQF Level 3 certificate. Since its inception in 2016, the programme has trained over 40 000 young people.

To apply, candidates can WhatsApp “Hello” to 072 773 4335 and select “Our stores”. Applications are open year-round.
