Pick n Pay expands in-store services with nationwide Ticketpro integration

Pick n Pay customers can now purchase tickets for a wider range of events at selected stores nationwide following a new partnership with electronic ticketing provider Ticketpro.

Customers can buy tickets at the Money Counter or selected tills without the need for an app or kiosk as the service is integrated into Pick n Pay’s point-of-sale (POS) system. A till slip serves as the official entry ticket, with a unique barcode for event access.

Deven Moodley, Executive Head of Pick n Pay's Value-Added Services, Financial Services and Mobile Division, said the rollout formed part of the retailer’s ongoing efforts to enhance convenience for its customers.

“By integrating ticket sales into our existing POS system - which already offers customers access to Webticket events - we’ve made it easier to manage everyday tasks in one place. From grocery shopping to bill payments and event bookings, offering more under one roof gives our customers more reason to choose Pick n Pay, not just for essentials, but for everyday lifestyle needs too,” Moodley said.

Ticketpro, a subsidiary of Blue Label Telecoms, facilitates over 10 million ticket sales annually across a variety of event types, including live music, theatre, sport, expos, and transport services. Its integration with Pick n Pay's store network significantly increases the accessibility of tickets, particularly in communities where traditional ticket outlets may not be available.

“The partnership with Pick n Pay expands our reach and brings ticketing closer to where customers live and shop,” said Brandon Duffield: Managing Director of Ticketpro. “Buying a ticket - whether for a concert, a football match, or a bus trip – is now as simple as buying bread and milk.”

In addition to in-store ticket purchases, customers can reserve tickets online through Ticketpro and choose to pay in-store within 48 hours using a unique payment reference number. This offers added flexibility for customers who prefer offline payment options.

Ticketpro events range from large-scale concerts and sports to community festivals, conferences, exhibitions and more. Sporting ticket options include rugby, cricket, and soccer matches, as well as local and international fixtures.

The rollout is live in selected stores and will expand across Pick n Pay’s stores nationally in the coming weeks.
