Fire at Jumbo Cash and Carry - Crown Mines Store

This morning at 05:00 a fire was reported at the Jumbo Cash & Carry store in Crown Mines, Johannesburg. All night shift employees were safely evacuated and are fully accounted for, no one has been injured.

 The Johannesburg Fire Department was notified immediately and are currently on the scene fighting the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this early stage.
 
In situations such as this, the cause of the fire is investigated after the site has been declared to be safe. The investigation is typically conducted by teams from the Fire Department, South African Police Services and the insurers.
 
The value of stock that is carried in the store is estimated, at this early stage, to be approximately R100 million. The store, assets and stock are fully insured.
