Dachser South Africa named Freight and Logistics Company of the Year

| Supply chain

Dachser South Africa was named freight and logistics company of the year at the 2016 Transport Africa Awards. The Transport Africa Awards are designed to recognise companies who have demonstrated the ability to succeed and have continuously set standards of excellence.

This year, a number of companies from 16 countries throughout the continent were nominated for the various award categories. Five finalists were selected in the category for freight and logistics company of the year. It was the first time that Dachser South Africa had entered the awards.

Dachser South Africa has been operating in South Africa and on the African continent for 38 years, with local offices in Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.

“I believe that in a constantly evolving marketplace the ability for everyone in the company to really work together towards achieving our company’s vision is what sets us apart. It encourages our customers trust us as capable and reliable long-term partners,” says Detlev Duve, managing director of Dachser.

An integral part of Dachser South Africa’s approach to intelligent logistics is to create maximum profitability for clients through the full spectrum of value-added logistics services. “The benefit for clients is that they are able to focus on their core business, rather than having to spend time and money on needless and complex handling of inventory,” says Duve.

The company actively seeks innovative solutions to meet the particular requirements of each client. This is especially relevant given that the company has a diverse client base ranging from suppliers of frontline healthcare equipment - which require continued onsite calibration, to the providers of large-scale heavy technical equipment such as elevators and escalators - which require mega-transportation solutions.

With a staff of 26 506 employees at 428 locations all over the globe, Dachser generated revenue of 5,6 billion EUR in 2015. The logistics provider moved a total of 78,1 million shipments weighing 37,3 million tonnes. Dachser is now represented in 42 countries.
