ID Logistics SA explores new markets

| Supply chain

After on-boarding 11 new clients in the FMCG perishable sector this year and extending their anchor client, Danone’s contract until 2022, ID Logistics South Africa has set its view on targeting other categories, such as fruit and vegetables, flowers and other vertical markets.

Friedel Spies, Business Development Director of ID Logistics SA said that with the tough economic and competitive environment in the logistics’ sector, it’s important to leverage the national infrastructure and capabilities that the ID Logistics group has established in South Africa.

“Business has been secured in the fruit and veg and process meat categories and we are currently on-boarding two new principals supporting them to expand their business to a new level,” said Spies.

“The implementation of the recently secured Nestlé contract has also kept our team busy, as well as our exciting pilot project with Shoprite Group’s OK Food division to roll out convenience products to eight outlets in the Western Cape,” he adds.

ID Logistics SA draws on the global experience of its French-based parent group, who recently opened a new 20,000sqm temperature-controlled logistics platform for Carrefour, which will deliver to 461 convenience stores in the Paris region on a daily basis with fruit and vegetables, poultry, and self-service products.
