First Choice, manufactured by Woodlands Dairy, has added new flavours Strawberry Vanilla and Choc Mint to its popular High Protein Recovery (HPR) drinks range.

Elite and amateur athletes will now be spoilt for choice when choosing the specially formulated drink, which offers rapid muscle recovery following intense workouts or competition.

Marisa Maccaferri, Marketing Executive for Woodlands Dairy and First Choice, says the company continuously invests in expanding its ranges to continue to delight existing consumers of the brand and to attract new ones. “HPR is consistently showing double digit growth and we hope that this trend will continue with the new flavours, as our distribution footprint expands, and more consumers are exposed to the product.”

First Choice has added new flavours Strawberry Vanilla and Choc Mint to its popular High Protein Recovery (HPR) drink in time for this year’s Netball World Cup (NWC2023). It has been selected as the official hydration and recovery supplier to the event, which takes place from 28 July to 6 August in Cape Town.

Marisa Maccaferri, Marketing Executive for Woodlands Dairy and First Choice, says the company is thrilled to back one of the most popular women’s sports in the world. “The Netball World Cup is an esteemed international tournament that holds great significance in the world of women's sports. It brings together national teams from across the globe to compete at the highest level of netball excellence. By hosting the NWC2023 in Cape Town, the event takes on an added significance as it brings the thrill of world-class netball to African shores and emphasises the worldwide reach and inclusivity of women's sports, uniting fans from diverse backgrounds in their shared enthusiasm for the game.”

Thulile Memela, Brand Manager at Woodlands Dairy and First Choice, adds that to date their Chocolate and Banana Crème flavours have been the firm favourites, with Peanut Butter a close third. “We’re excited to see how the market responds to the new Choc-Mint and Strawberry Vanilla flavours,” she says.

She continues that the product offers excellent benefits, great taste and is affordable. “HPR is specifically designed for the sportsperson. It delivers twice the protein of normal milk (21g/250ml serving) with all the added benefits found in dairy. It has been fortified with eight additional B vitamins, is high in calcium, Tartrazine free and ready-to-drink (simply shake, twist, and enjoy). It also has no artificial aftertaste as is the case with so many high-protein products on the market. Only high-quality ingredients are used, especially the milk, which is procured locally from predominantly pasture fed cows. Recover like a PRO with a dairy-based recovery drink that’s packed with all the essential ingredients to aid the recovery of muscles,” Memela explains.

Maccaferri concludes: “Both professional and amateur athletes have taken to the product, and we’re involved as suppliers and sponsors in many disciplines. These teams use High Protein Recovery as part of their nutrition and condition plans for players. To be the official hydration and recovery suppliers to the Netball World Cup (NWC2023), is a massive opportunity for the brand to shine on an international stage. Our sports nutritionist and brand ambassador, Candice De Mendonca, who has been an integral part of the brand team will be joining us in Cape Town during the event to help shed some light on the importance of recovery in an athlete’s preparation and success at any level. At Woodlands Dairy we pride ourselves on developing high quality, relevant products with real benefits.”

With five flavours to choose from, HPR is available at Pick ‘n Pay and Dischem nationwide as well as online at www.shopfirstchoice.co.za or https://recoverymilk.co.za/ at the RRP of R14.99 to R19.99.

Woodlands Dairy is a leader in sustainability and HPR offers the added benefit and comfort of knowing that the pack is partially made from plant-based materials such as sugarcane and board from sustainably managed forests and thus 100% recyclable.
