Shoprite Group earns Top Employer status for 2024

The Shoprite Group has been recognised as a Top Employer for 2024 by the Top Employers Institute, a global authority on excellence in people practices.

Certification is awarded solely to companies whose Human Resources (HR) practices meet international best-practice standards. This involves a rigorous evaluation process – including an independently audited and fact-based HR Best Practices Survey that assesses hundreds of practices, processes and policies – to ensure authenticity and quality.

The Shoprite Group has been recognised as a Top Employer for 2024 by the Top Employers Institute, a global authority on excellence in people practices.

The recognition underscores the Group’s commitment to nurturing teamwork, trust, career development, diversity, promoting from within, and job security as foundations for creating a healthy and productive work environment for its more than 160 000 employees.

“As the largest private-sector employer in South Africa, this certification validates our efforts to create a workplace where employees feel valued. We are developing a culture that sees employees as intrinsic to our purpose and helps them understand why they matter. We are committed to continually improving our practices to uphold this.”

- Athené van Mazijk, Chief People Officer at the Group

“In addition, what we stand for culturally is crucial for attracting and retaining talent in a competitive market,” she adds.
