Police contact point keeps Menlyn centre safe
The South African Police Service (SAPS) Brooklyn has opened a contact point at the new Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in Pretoria
The centre is undergoing a R2-billion redevelopment that will make it the largest mall in Africa, with over 500 shops.
“Our customers no longer have to queue at busy police stations,” says Andrea de Wit, marketing manager at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre. “The contact point provides a safe and convenient place at the centre where they can open a docket, create an affidavit and certify their documents.”
“Not only does the contact point add convenience, it also helps to boost awareness of crime prevention and improve police visibility,” adds Olive Ndebele, general manager at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre. And with the approaching festive season, it is hoped that the initiative will also discourage incidents of shoplifting and vehicle theft.
“We always have our customers’ interests at heart, and feel the police contact point is a great initiative to give our shoppers peace of mind and convenience,” says Ndebele. “Building and maintaining strong relationships with local law-enforcement agencies is also very important to us.”
The police contact point is open every day from 10am to 6pm. Its 24-hour phone number is 0800 333 177.
