Checkers and Mr D Food will now deliver medicine to your home

| On the move

Checkers clients can now have medicine delivered to their door via the Mr D Food service.

Customers are required to call their closest MediRite pharmacy (which are situated in some Checkers stores), place an order and pay for it via bank transfer or their medical aid. Then they can book the delivery on the Mr D Food app, which will then drop the order at your door.

A flat service fee of R45 is applicable and a delivery fee of R5 - R15 will be charged depending on the customer's area.

The initiative will be rolled out initially across 55 of the 90 Checkers supermarkets with MediRite pharmacies.

“Getting medicine to those customers who are unable to leave their homes is one of many solutions we continue to roll out,” said the Shoprite Group’s deputy CEO, Joseph Bronn.

On Tuesday (07/04/2020), Dis-Chem launched two drive-through Covid-19 testing sites in Centurion, Gauteng.

These initiatives are among a string of new offerings from South African retailers, which are among the few businesses that are still allowed to operate during the strict lockdown.

On Monday, Shoprite launched “virtual” grocery vouchers that can be sent via SMS.

The company said in a statement that this will allow customers to help those in need during the national lockdown. The vouchers, which can be bought at www.computicket.com,  will be sent via SMS to a recipient’s mobile phone within an hour of placing the order.
