Stokvel Season is here.

| On the move

Stokvel is an estimated R50bn industry in South Africa. The stokvel system, which dates back to the 19th century, is premised on group savings toward a central fund for various events from burial to Christmas grocery purchasing. Today, there are over 810 000 active stokvels with 11 million members in South Africa.

Against a backdrop where black South Africans could not access the formal banking system, stokvels served as a safe way to pool and save money. Today, it remains the tried, tested and largely preferred method of saving. Each entity decides how much to contribute and how often the money is shared. Wholesalers across the country host annual stokvel events at their stores where groups can purchase more for less in anticipation of Christmas and the festive season. Stokvel season is around the corner

With the tumultuous events of the past year, it is quite astonishing to find ourselves preparing to enter the fourth and final quarter of 2021. No doubt, the annual Christmas stokvel is one of the biggest events in the retail calendar and brands and wholesalers alike are preparing for the festivities within the confinements of covid regulations. MegaVision Media is a one stop shop, offering branding and advertising materials which are required to make the event a success. This includes point of sale material, branded promotional material and discount specials on in-store fixed media spaces. What MegaVision Media can offer
