Makis Kosmatos Appointed Area Managing Director for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Sub-Sahara Africa

Makis Kosmatos has been appointed Area Managing Director for the Johnson & Johnson Consumer business in Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA), effective August 2015. Makis’ appointment follows the end of term of former MD, Doug Cunningham.

 Makis has been with the Johnson & Johnson business since 1995. His extensive career track record stretches across a number of markets in Europe and different areas including Marketing, Customer and general management. He joins the Sub-Sahara Africa business from Greece where he successfully led the Greek and South East European Cluster business for the past 5 years.

Takis Baladis (Area VP, South Europe, Africa and Middle East) says Makis is a key leader for the company’s Consumer business in EMEA, leading the SSA team to implement ambitious growth strategies within the cluster. “Makis will build with his experience on the legacy of Doug Cunningham, and continue the accelerated profitable growth of South Africa and Sub-Sahara,” says Takis. “This is an important growth region for us in consumer and Makis will also focus on setting the groundwork and strategy for building our new Sub-Saharan Africa business.”

Makis holds a degree in Business Administration and Economics from the American College of Greece, as well as an MBA from Campbell University, North Carolina, USA, and recently relocated to Cape Town with his wife and two children.
