Retailer’s refurbished computers find a new home at local school

| Social Responsibility

A new school in Brackenfell is benefiting from a donation of refurbished computers from Checkers and Just PCs.

Vredekloof Primary School did not have the financial resources to buy equipment for their computer lab, which has been standing empty since the school opened its doors for the first time in January this year.

"When we were approached by the school for a donation of computers, we looked no further than Checkers as one of the businesses that serve the community of Vredekloof. We refurbished the computers and now the learners of Vredekloof Primary School can enjoy learning IT skills," says Justin van der Walt of Just PC, a computer company focussed on supplying high quality refurbished technological products in an attempt to close the digital divide.

“We are very grateful and feel blessed to have been chosen by Just PCs for this generous donation and it is heart-warming to see a household name like Checkers giving back to the community,” says Wimpie Bezuidenhout, the school’s principal.

“By supporting the school, we not only demonstrate our heart for the communities we serve, but also show our commitment to the circular economy, which seeks to minimise waste  - something we’re looking to do in almost every aspect of our business,” says Lunga Schoeman, CSI spokesperson for Checkers.
