Shoprite donates care packages to the Free State Department of Health for COVID-19 patients

| Social Responsibility

The Shoprite Group donated 200 care packages containing essential products to COVID-19 patients in the Free State Department of Health facilities.

These contain warm blankets and essential toiletries (bar soaps, face cloths, toothbrushes, toothpastes, waterless hand sanitisers and energy drinks) that will be distributed among COVID-19 patients at Pelonomi, Universitas, National District and Free State Psychiatric hospitals.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Shoprite Group for their kind donation. We can only succeed in fighting this pandemic if we work together;” said Montseng Tsiu, Free State Health MEC.

Since the start of the pandemic, the Shoprite Group has donated care packages to hospitals across the country.

Lunga Schoeman, CSI Manager for the Shoprite Group, said: “In the face of South Africa’s alarming COVID-19 infections, many of the infected people cannot afford essentials like hand sanitisers. It is for that reason, we have identified facilities in need of such essentials to assist patients in need.  We place great value on the communities we serve, they are at the core of our business and we are committed to continue to #ActForChange in the communities in which we operate.”
