Food relief for Inanda families affected by storm

| Social Responsibility

Just days after a massive storm tore through the East coast of KwaZulu-Natal leaving hundreds of families in dire need of help, Boxer, together with Feed the Nation and several other willing partners has reached out to help.

The storm and subsequent tornado left many Inanda residents without food and shelter. Boxer and its partners; Feed the Nation, AJ Property Holdings, Power Wise, Abalindi Welfare and Africost quickly arranged for 361 massive Boxer emergency parcels to be packed and delivered to a handover site in Inanda.

On Friday the 30th June, nearly 200 of the 361 recipients selected by Ward 56 Councillor Siya Ntombela  welcomed Boxer and its partners as they handed over the parcels. Consisting of nutritious proteins, Shibobo Maize Meal, Golden Ray Flour, Fresh Wave Washing Powder, cooking oil and a variety of canned goods, the emergency hampers will last families for several weeks as the community rebuilds. “We are proud to come together as KZN’s community champion, along with our special partners, to assist these families. The tragedy of severe weather spells in KZN is something we are all too aware of, and it is our duty to assist where we can. Thank you to everyone involved, and we wish the families well during this challenging time,” said Boxer Group Executive for Stakeholder Engagement and Sustainability, Ntombi Dludla.

Dludla urged KZN businesses to assist where they could, to help alleviate the dire challenges faced by many Inanda families. “We encourage businesses to spare a thought for our community in need, and reach out to help these amazing families, in their time of need,” she said.
