LiquorShop extends its low price promise to customers with the opening of its 500th store

| Store Openings

LiquorShop, the Shoprite Group’s chain of stand-alone liquor outlets, marked a major milestone with the opening of its 500th store at the Philippi Plaza Shopping Centre in Cape Town on 22 August 2019.

Since opening its first store in Edenvale in 2004, LiquorShop has gone from strength to strength. Since 2014, a new outlet has been opened every week, on average, enabling the Group to continue to create new jobs year after year despite poor economic growth.

The 500th store opening, which marks the huge success of the LiquorShop brand, coincides with it winning multiple private label awards, confirming the superior products it offers its customers.

Seven LiquorShop private label products won awards at the recent 2019 Old Mutual Trophy Spirits show, including Gold for both its Master’s London Dry Gin and Private Barrel Co. James Sedgewick 6YO Single Malt South African Whisky.

The Group’s LiquorShops offer a full assortment of local and international wines, French champagne, award-winning gins, craft beers, a wide variety of spirits and an exclusive House of Fine Whisky selection at supermarket prices.

LiquorShop is also continually innovating to make the shopping experience easier for its customers. In addition to product innovation to provide the best quality at supermarket prices, a growing number of LiquorShop stores are offering click and collect services as well as deliveries by Mr D Food.
