Katlehong’s first enclosed Mall opens

| Store Openings

Moolman Group, in partnership with Twin City Developments and Vuno Developments, is proud to bring convenience to the township of Katlehong – with the opening of the much-anticipated Sam Ntuli Mall on 31 October 2019.

With over 110 stores, anchored by Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Clicks, Meat World and Cashbuild, the new centre will provide local residents with a large selection of quality stores in various retail categories. This includes banking convenience with Absa, Nedbank, FNB, Standard Bank, Capitec Bank and African Bank as tenants.

Balancing the rest of the 31 000m² development is a comprehensive selection of national fashion tenants, including Truworths, Exact, Markham, Totalsports, Legit, Beaver Canoe, Power Clothing, Studio 88, John Craig, Mr Price, Ackermans and Pep. Shoppers can also look forward to a satisfying mix of food outlets and restaurants, such as Hungry Lion, Debonairs, KFC, Steers and Roman’s Pizza, as well as 991 parking bays. Another exciting addition to the retail offering is the inclusion of the local community radio station – Kasi FM – who have made Sam Ntuli Mall home to their new studios.

All this fulfils the developers’ promise to further enrich communities and offer unrivalled shopping experiences close to home. “Katlehong is one of the last townships to receive an enclosed shopping destination and we are proud to give both our customers and tenants a space in which to gather, grow and make new memories,” says Pieter Lombaard, CEO of Moolman Group. Sam Ntuli Mall is located south of Alberton, in the buzzing centre of Katlehong, between the N3 highway and the R59 Vereeniging Road – on the corner of Kumalo and Masakhane Streets.

Sam Ntuli Mall is also expected to be a boost for its greater node, based on the strength of its location. It’s fun, family-orientated atmosphere and extensive tenant mix are all complemented by excellent connectivity and walkability.

The construction phase took 16 months and at the peak of construction in excess of 800 jobs were created. “We foresee an additional 850 permanent jobs being created by the stores with 75% of these being local residents,” says Lombaard. A job portal was introduced where members of the community could upload their CV, where after it was shared with all retailers.

The new mall celebrates being connected to its community by directly incorporating members of the community into the mall’s aesthetics on a community wall that can be seen at the restaurant node’s restrooms.

Highlights of the opening celebrations include the local Kasi FM DJs as well as the new much-anticipated kids' water play fountain and giant chessboard situated at the entrance in the centre of the mall. As part of the launch, Sam Ntuli Mall will be bringing the beach to Katlehong. Visitors can look forward to a free beach-themed experience featuring fun and interactive photo experiences. The “beach” will be located at the Pick n Pay entrance from launch day until February 2020.

Sam Ntuli Mall’s official launch will be celebrated on 31 October with a host of exciting events, free hand-outs and specials on offer on Thursday and Friday, 31 October and 1 November 2019.
