New Pretoria Starbucks opens at Castle Gate Lifestyle Centre

| Store Openings

Starbucks has proudly taken up occupancy in Pretoria’s brand-new Castle Gate Lifestyle Centre, which opened on 26 November.

Castle Gate is Starbucks’ first neighbourhood store in Gauteng and is also the second in an impressive rollout of eight stores in four weeks, which will see six opening in Cape Town, one in Rosebank and the Castle Gate Lifestyle Mall. This marks the fifth Starbucks store in the capital city, with stores located in malls in Menlyn Maine, Menlyn Park, Brooklyn and Centurion.

Customers are invited to the store to enjoy their favourite handcrafted coffee beverages, iconic holiday drinks like the gingerbread lattes and full WiFi, either indoors or under an umbrella enjoying the summer sun. Teddy Nzama, Starbucks 2019 Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Barista Champion and a Starbucks enthusiast explains, “Starbucks helped me grow my love and passion for coffee. As partners we should make our customers’ day. I always remember what this one customer told me the first time I made their coffee: please make sure the coffee is perfect, I only drink one cup of coffee and that cup of coffee decides my day… it was a good cup of coffee”. Starbucks coffee is 99% ethically sourced and accredited by Conservation International under the C.A.F.E. Practices programme.”

Adrian Maizey, CEO of Rand Capital Coffee, the licensee of Starbucks in South Africa, and a Pretoria ‘homeboy’, says this new store opening is particularly meaningful for him because “it’s just down the road from where I grew up and played as a child – which adds nostalgic value to the highly strategic value it has in this large-scale and stunning development in Pretoria.”

He adds, “Pretoria locals and Starbucks fans from further afield are invited to come and enjoy the special Starbucks experience in the beautifully designed Castle Gate building. You won’t be disappointed.”

Castle Gate, which enjoys a prime, easily accessible location on Solomon Mahlangu Drive in Waterkloof Ridge, is a mixed-use precinct which is under development in phases, with the first phase consisting of a 23,000m2 convenience centre, now proudly housing the newest Starbucks store.
