125 new jobs created in Zeerust as the Shoprite Group opens four new stores

The Shoprite Group recently created 125 new jobs with the opening of four new stores - namely a CheckersLiquorshop, as well as the province's first standalone Checkers Outdoor and Petshop Science stores - in a single day. 

Customers can now also order groceries from the comfort of their homes, following the introduction of the Checkers Sixty60 on-demand one-hour grocery delivery service to Zeerust. 

With several in-store fresh food and service departments available at Checkers Zeerust, customers can look forward to: 

  • A Meat Market with free range chicken and restaurant-quality steak;
  • A bakery with artisan breads and cakes;
  • A wine section;
  • A sushi bar;
  • A Foreign Ground coffee shop;
  • Fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers;
  • Exclusive private label brands such as Forage & Feastand Simple Truth;
  • Hot and cold foods deli; and
  • Money Market

Checkers Outdoor is the go-to destination for adventurers looking for quality camping, braai and outdoor essentials at excellent value. The specialist store stocks a selection of trusted brands conveniently located under one roof, including Weber, Traeger, Big Green Egg, Snomaster, Coleman, Conti, Victorinox and the Checkers private label Bush Baby.

Petshop Science features everything pet owners could want or need, including food, treats and toys from premium brands like Hills, Royal Canine, Ultra Dog, Rogz and Nandoe.

Trading hours are Mondays to Sundays from 08:00 – 20:00.
