Pick n Pay to open another branch in Zimbabwe

| Store Openings

South African retail giant Pick n Pay is set to open another branch at Avondale Shopping Centre before month end.

In an interview with The Herald Business, Pick n Pay Avondale branch manager Mr Donald Choga said: "We are waiting for some products from South Africa; once the products are in the country we will open the supermarket and this will be done before month-end.

"A total of 135 staff members will make up the team for the new store. The bulk of the employees were picked from various TM and Pick n Pay stores across the city with a few being new recruits," said Mr Choga.

Currently Pick n Pay and TM operate 55 shops in Zimbabwe and the Avondale branch will be the 56th branch in Zimbabwe.

"The opening of this branch is part of Pick n Pay's expansion exercise to fully cover all the cities around Zimbabwe and to cater for all customers," he said.

Since the beginning of this year, the group has refurbished four TM Supermarkets and rebranded three stores to Pick n Pay countrywide.
