£4.37 bottle of Asda wine crowned best in the world
Asda’s budget bottle of La Moneda Reserva Malbec from Chile has been awarded best in show in the single-varietal red under £15 category at this year’s Decanter World Wine Awards, beating 16,000 other bottles.
A panel of 240 international wine experts judged the £4.37 bottle of wine to be the “ultimate crowd pleaser”, describing it as tasting of “freshly crushed black fruit, creamy vanilla yoghurt and pepper spice”.
The wine has already sold out online with Asda preparing for a rush in its stores this weekend from shoppers looking to pick up a bottle.
