Shoprite and Checkers to crown Boerewors king

| Awards and achievements

South Africans will have an opportunity to vote for the country’s best Boerewors when the three best recipes from this year’s Championship Boerewors competition become available in all Shoprite and Checkers stores nationwide during August and September.

A country-wide search to find South Africa’s best Boerewors began in May this year, with hundreds of hopefuls entering their special recipes. Through various judging rounds the number of contestants was whittled down to just three finalists - Jacobus Olivier Kritzinger, Winter Reaobaka Letlhogile and Vukile Vincent Cele - who will now go on to the Championship Boerewors Competition finale in Cape Town in September.

The finalists are all vying for the bragging rights as SA’s Boerewors Champion, as well as a chance to win a brand new Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.8 GD-6 Raised Body Raider.

Customers will be able to buy a pack containing all three recipes, braai it, and vote for their favourite recipe.
