Albany is a proud iconic South African brand

| Awards and achievements

Albany Superior Bread was recently awarded Icon Brand status in Ask Africa’s Icon Brands survey. Icon Brands are brands that South Africans identify with as a nation.

They are brands that are used loyally by South Africans every day across age, income, race and language spectrums. This is what makes being named an Icon Brand such an achievement, it is a vote that comes directly from fans and people who love the brand.

Albany Superior Bread was recently named the winner of the Icon Brands bread category. The Icon Brands survey is the largest of its kind in South Africa, with a total of 15 000 consumers being surveyed, which is representative of over 21 million adult South African consumers. There were 163 product categories surveyed across nine industries. These represent categories across financial services, communications, travel and leisure, restaurants and fast foods, pharmaceutical and health, pets and pet foods, electronics, household appliances, household products, food and clothing retailing, DIY and gardening, personal care, foods and drinks.

“We are so incredibly proud of this achievement. We love that we are a part of South Africans lives and that they really enjoy our products. In the future, we hope that consumers will continue to identify with the brand and that we can continue to give them exactly what they are looking for. We are always striving to provide products that consumers can trust and love,” says Thabile Gwiji, Brand Manager for Albany Bakeries.
