Fairview takes the cream at the world cheese awards

| Awards and achievements

Fairview once again made the South African cheese industry proud with its achievements at the recent World Cheese Awards, held in San Sebastián in Northern Spain, late in 2016. Fairview took home three prestigious international awards for its high-quality artisanal cheese making it a leader in the local and global cheese industry.

Now in its 29th year, the World Cheese Awards is the world’s largest cheese competition. The awards saw 3 021 different cheeses being judged by over 260 cheese connoisseurs from every corner of the globe, including cheesemakers, technical experts, buyers, retailers and food writers. Judges awarded gold, silver or bronze ratings and looked at the rind and body of the cheese, its colour, texture, consistency and most importantly, its taste.

Fairview’s Chevre Roue, a robust goat’s milk cheese, excelled at the competition and was awarded a gold rating. Fairview’s Botham’s Cremezola Blue, a creamy, gorgonzola-style cheese, walked away with an impressive silver rating while Fairview’s Saint Louis, a white mould cheese made from Jersey milk, received a deserved bronze rating.

“We are extremely proud to have been recognised internationally and are pleased to be able to offer our loyal South African customers an award-winning range of cheeses,” says Fairview’s owner Charles Back. “We’re the only South African cheese company specified by Air France – and now you know why!”

The Chevre Roue, Botham’s Cremezola Blue and Saint Louis cheeses are available exclusively at Woolworths nationwide and the Fairview Deli on the Fairview Estate in Paarl.
