Aldi crowned Supermarket of the Year
After yesterday posting record sales and revealing plans to launch an e-commerce operation, it has been revealed that Aldi was crowned Supermarket of the Year at last week’s Retail Industry Awards 2015.
The discounter won the accolade for the first time, with it also picking up the award for Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s Local won the Convenience Retailer of the Year title for the fifth year running, whilst the Co-operative won the Chilled Retailer of the Year award. SPAR was crowned Symbol/Fascia Group of the Year, whilst Poundland won the Discount Retailer of the Year award.
